The Construction Process
Made Simple

Step Six
The Interior
Sheer

The top edge of the hull is called the “sheer”. This edge is cut off and smoothed and the “sheer clamp” is built. The “sheer clamp” consists of a thick piece of mahogany that goes all around the edge of the “sheer” making a ledge for the deck to sit.

The "cockpit sole" (cockpit floor) is constructed on a
mold similar to the hull. This mold will give a uniform
curve to the "sole" for water drainage. The "sole"
is made from two layers of ¼" marine plywood sandwiching ¾" foam, and all is vacuum bagged".

Ringframes

Bulkheads in "In Box"

The “bulkheads” (inside walls) are built
by making patterns from thin cedar strips
and hot glue.
From these patterns, the “bulkheads” are cut out of epoxy coated
marine plywood and bonded to the hull.
