Ocean Planet Deck

With the interior bulkheads bunks and lockers in place work begins on the deck.

The deck cabin sides and coach roof are built. Temporary mold sections are cut for areas that have no bulkheads, and fir stringers are spanned across the "bulkheads" and molds.

Plastic is placed over the strips for "vacuum bagging". The construction is from two layers of ¼" marine plywood sandwiched around a 1" foam core. "Solid blocking" is added along the perimeter and wherever deck hardware will be. The deck is "vacuum bagged", sanded, and sprayed with primer in the same process as the hull.

At this time, the interior is finished off with paint, wood trim, and laminate. All of the boat’s systems are installed, including the electrical, plumbing, tanks, mechanical, electronic, and steering.

Then the exterior of the boat is ready for final painting, and non-skid sprayed on working areas of the deck. The cockpit is finished with teak or varnished mahogany as required. The hardware and windows are installed and we are ready for the launching day.
